With seven generations of winemakers in their family, it is no surprise that the three siblings who run the winery have been producing brilliant, award-winning wines every single year. The oldest, Iker, is the oenologist and after many years of studies and rigorous training internationally, he brought his skills back home. Their 57 hectares are located below the Sierra de Cantabria, where the nearby mountain ranges act as a barrier against the cold, damp winds from the Bay of Biscay, but still allowing some moisture through for optimum vine development. All the vines are picked by hand to ensure quality, and judging by the reviews, it has paid off.
Rioja Blanco Bodegas Launa
Region / Producer
White Rioja only makes up about 7% of the wines produced in the region, and this is a fantastic example of one. It is medium-bodied and wonderfully refreshing, with notes of citrus and tropical fruit. The acidity is just high enough to allow it to easily pair with a variety of foods. Very appealing food oriented-style.
60% Viura, 40% Chardonnay
Gazpacho, garlic prawns, simple grilled fish
