The glamorous Federica Morricone runs Villa Medoro, a 92 hectare estate within sight of the Adriatic Sea. Until the late 1990s, the estate sold on its high quality grapes to other producers, but now they are making wine themselves, pairing indigenous grape varieties with modern winemaking techniques. This has resulted in some fine, appealing reds with serious complexity.
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Rosso del Duca, Villa Medoro
Region / Producer
A wonderfully expressive nose of blackcurrant, plums and blackberry jam give way to secondary aromas of tobacco, coffee, leather, spices and olives. A refreshing acidity and soft tannins, along with a lively palate make this one of the most interesting Montepulciano d'Abruzzos at this price point!
Lamb chops, burgers, beef brisket, Bolognese
