Alfredo Arribas, Priorat
Alfredo Arribas is something of a Priorat superstar, having gained nationwide renown as an architect before turning his hand to winemaking. He has brought an entirely new philosophy to the wines of Priorat, creating wines of great precision and purity whilst maintaining all the power of the 80 + year old vines at his disposal. Alfredo is a man with a vision, having designed a state of the art winery he has managed to seamlessly merge the best of the old Priorat with all that modern technology has to offer. His efforts here and in the neighbouring Montsant have caught the eye of many of the wine press’ top brass, who year upon year score his wines amongst the highest in the country.
4 Gotes, Portal del Priorat
Region / Producer
A tribute to the Beaujolais, Alfredo calls this his ‘baby Morgon’. An eccentric creation blending 4 different types of Grenache, this is a thirst-quenching, explosively aromatic red packed with fresh fruits, fine rather than jammy, raspberry, wild strawberry, cherries, the odd juicy stone fruit like mango, white pepper and gentle spices. Very smooth and easy drinking with integrated tannins and a clean, crisp finish.
100% Grenache (Black, Downy, Grey and White)
Barbecued meats and vegetables (especially aubergine and peppers), paella, roast turkey or chicken
