Unique Opportunity: Grand Cru Alsace Wines from Kuentz Bas, among others

A few weeks ago we held a Winemaker's Dinner with Samuel Tottoli of Alsatian Estate, Kuentz Bas, here in London. It was such a success that we sold out of a few lines and we're therefore ready to ship again! As with many of our producers, their range is extensive and we have to painstakingly select only a few to hold as stock.

Today, however, we're offering a selection of Kuentz Bas' Grand Cru wines, as well as an incredible Pinot Noir and a stunning dessert wine that aren't generally available from Genesis. This is a rare and unique opportunity to own wines that can't be found anywhere else in the UK!

Founded in 1795, Kuentz-Bas have 10 hectares under vine, which include some parcels in the grand cru vineyards of Eichberg, Geisberg, Pfersigberg and Florimont. All of the vinification is as low intervention as possible, with most vineyards being certified organic, as the aim is to properly express the terroir of the vineyards and to this end, the wines are then raised in either stainless steel tanks or century-old wooden casks. This meticulous attention results in a range of sustainable, authentic, food friendly wines that beautifully express their varietals and terroir.

This is a pre-arrival offer (wines will be shipped early July 2017) so orders will be confirmed on receipt of payment, and customers will be requested to take delivery as soon as the wine arrives in the UK.

Deadline for orders: 5pm, Monday 12th June 2017. E&OE.

2013 Pinot Noir Trois Châteaux
£111 in bond or £149 retail
Case of 6x75cl

"A serious pinot noir with spice, mineral and dark berry. Full-bodied, dry and intense. Very stylish and complex. 18 months in barrel. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold." 93 points, James Suckling

2013 Gewürztraminer Grand Cru Pfersigberg, Trois Châteaux
£116 in bond or £155 retail
Case of 6x75cl

"The 2013 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Pfersigberg displays clear, precise, intense and elegant aromas of ripe peaches, nectarines, pineapples and powdered limestone. Full-bodied and lively in its fine acidity this is a seductively sappy, lemon-fresh, buoyant and elegant Gewurz with a long and salty finish. Still very young it would benefit from further bottle aging. The sweetness is well absorbed here by the fresh and mineral character of this almost dry tasting wine although the technical acidity is just 4.5 grams per liter (but 26 grams of residual sugar)." 91 points, Stephan Reinhardt for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"An off dry style with dried fruits such as apples and pineapples. Pears too. Full body, bright finish. Delicate. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now." 91 points, James Suckling

2014 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Florimont, Trois Châteaux
£116 in bond or £155 retail
Case of 6x75cl

"The palate of rich, fleshy and ripe pear is already signalled on the nose and relaxes into softly sweet juiciness at its fruity core. Fresh acidity means that it stays sprightly and finishes just off dry." 90 points, Wine Enthusiast

2013 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg, Trois Châteaux
£136 in bond or £179 retail
Case of 6x75cl

"From the steep, warm and stony cru above Ribeauvillé the 2013 Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg opens with a clear, deep and flinty stone fruit aroma on the nose. Full-bodied, very mineral and tightly woven on the palate, this Geisberg has a salty yet still somewhat restrained finish. The aftertaste is fresh and aromatic but the structure still too grippy and drying to fully enjoy the wine's talents. You should either decant it for some hours or, better, age it for another 3 or 4 years." 92 points, Stephan Reinhardt for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Vibrant and aromatic bouquet with notes of fresh flowers and citrus. Juicy, elegant in the mouth with a great texture and purity, and with an exotic fruit character supported by lashings of mineral notes. With a long length, this is a great expression of its terroir." 95 points, Gold Medal Winner, Decanter

2014 Riesling Cuvée Caroline, Vendange Tardive
£145 in bond or £189 retail
Case of 6x75cl

"This is a stunning Vendange Tardive with an incredibly expressive and complex nose alive with notes of citrus fruits, fresh rhubarb and elderberry. On the palate there is an intense minerality paired with flavours of preserved lemons. A perfect balance between sweetness and acidity resulting in a harmonic and fresh flavour" Genesis Wines

*16/20 in La Revue du Vin de France
