Created in 1502, Domaine Hétszőlő is considered to have some of the most beautiful vineyards in Central Europe. It is truly historic to boot, having belonged over the years to many different owners including the princes of Transylvania, the princess of Brandenburg and the Rákózi princes. In 1711, the domaine became Imperial property and remained under the administration of the Austro-Hungarian crown for nearly two centuries. With its vineyard classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Imperial Domaine produces fine, unctuous aszú wines with incredible ageing potential. The estate is now owned by Michel Reybier, the proprietor of the rather famous Chateau Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux.
