Whereas Mas Amiel is the flag bearer for Roussillon, La Négly, owned by the Rosset family, is arguably the Languedoc’s counterpart and makes some of the greatest wines in the south. Surprisingly close to the Mediterranean, it is located in the subregion of La Clape: a chalk packed grand cru of the south. The whites are a pithy blend of regional grapes with lots of minerality, floral notes and a little honey. The red Falaise is astounding value for money: an ageworthy, fruit filled Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre blend.
