Finca Nueva is Miguel Angels’s latest creation. As the winemaker for Finca Allende, a very well known and prestigious estate in La Mancha, Miguel was missing a space in which he could rein with his creativity. Having started work in 2004, Finca Nueva is still relatively new to the market. Miguels aim is to produce a new generation of Riojas, to create wines with an edge, both in style and in design. Miguel says The humming bird leaving its cage on their labels signifies his freedom to create wines to his own vision, a vision that surrounds the brand. Although Miguel still barrel ages his wines in the traditional methods, there is a real contemporary feel to the whole range. The wines are fresh and approachable, the perfect introduction to Rioja, whilst with enough weight to keep the most esteemed pallate happy as well.
Aromas of dark plum blackcurrant and blackberry -soft dark fruit. On the palate the dark fruits are more stewed. The plum flavours are great but short length.

Delicious creamy vanilla pod character on the nose – hints of white chocolate too.On the palate there is dried apricot a little pepper and some mango and papaya. Good freshness and acidity. The flavour lasts on a long finish.
Dark rich opulent fruit. Chocolate and caramelised roasted lamb tones too. On the palate there are cigar-like falvours with smooth rich dark fuits. The palate builds and more complex flavours of earthy tones start to show.
On the nose there are notes of tobacco and ripe morchino cherry. The palate expresses smooth spice - cinnamon. Rich dark fruit flavours help make this an ideal match with roasted lamb.Robert Parker scores 89
