Jumilla is another one of those Spanish regions where an oenological aligning of the planets leads to unique results. The factors in question are cooling high altitude and drought resilient old Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) vines. Proprietor Paco Selva owns sixty-five hectares of ungrafted old vineyards in the northern, coolest sub-zone of the appellation called La Hoya de Santa Ana. The wines are rich and dark with flavours of dates and figs. The sweet Dulce is a perfect wine for really rich puddings or blue cheese.
