New Wave Italy

New_Wave_Italy

Italian wine seems to be the real buzz in the industry right now, but it is worth pointing out that there is more to Italy than the Super Tuscans and top Brunello. Italy is a country with as wide a variety of indigenous grapes as you will find anywhere, with each of the classic regions boasting something unique. There has been a real resurgence in these local varieties in recent years and the new generation of winemakers have been keen to show the world that there is more to Italy than Sangiovese.

Ciacci Piccolomini: 93/100 in Decanter Magazine

Piccolomini_-_Decanter

Ciacci Piccolomini have long been one of our favourite Italian producers here at Genesis. They make truly extraordinary wines from some of the most beautiful and historic vineyard sites in the region, whilst also utilising the finest technologies modern winemaking has to offer.

Ciacci Piccolomini are the definition of a world class producer and at the recent Decanter Magazine panel tasting they managed to scoop a fantastic 93/100 points and a ‘Highly Recommended’ status.

Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso, Ciacci Piccolomini 2007 - £216.00 per case (6x75cl) inc VAT

Contact us here if you would like a case or two.

“Complex aromas of red fruits, flowers and fresh mushrooms follow through to a full body, with ultra-fine tannins and intense fruit and bright acidity. Goes on for a long, long time. So juicy and fruity. Hints of bitter lemon rind. Give this two or three years more of bottle age.”

96/100 - James Suckling.

New Wave Spain

New_Wave_Spain_2012

There has been a huge leap in quality within Spanish winemaking over the past decade or so, allowing some of the older, more traditional growing regions to truly come to the foreground. This can only be a good thing, not only for the producers, but for the wine drinking public as a whole – remember, there is more to Spanish wine than Rioja!

Here at Genesis we pride ourselves on sourcing the very best wines a country has to offer and if that means sourcing from off the beaten track then so be it. So let us now look to the new wave of Spanish growers and the superb variety that the country has to offer:

Tour St Michel 5 Star award from Decanter

"Fresh, clean nose. Soft tannins, delicate use of oak and soft ripe fruit, with
a floral uplift and refreshing acidity. Has delicious complexity and clarity of
fruit with fabulous balance. Poised and elegant. Drink: 2012–2020. Alc: 15%"

We are delighted that this great producer is receiving some well deserved recognition for their phenomenal wines. Decanter also rated their Cuvée du Lion and Feminessance a highly commended status with 4 Stars each.

The 2009s will be landing shortly, and there are still limited stocks fo the outstanding 2010s on our En Primeur campaign HERE.
