Fryer's Cove Sauvignon Blanc

Fryers_Cove_Logo

Here at Genesis Wines, we are proud of our small but growing portfolio of South African wines and it is always enjoyable to have our belief in a producer confirmed by critical comment.

The delicious Fryer’s Cove Bamboes Bay 2011 has been named as the JancisRobinson.com wine of the week, an accolade it fully deserves, as this is a great vintage of a fantastic wine.

Fryer’s Cove Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2011

“Fryer’s Cove Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Bamboes Bay (a coastal ward of the Olifants River region, about 220 km north of Cape Town) represents a most refreshing change. It is recognisably Sauvignon Blanc without any gross greenness. Three months of lees ageing and bâtonnage, including a small oak-fermented proportion, has given texture and mouthfeel without undue weight. It is only 12% alcohol, but finishes bone dry and with well-aligned acid and fruit intensity.

I found it very heartening to know that wine can be made with these characteristics without compromising balance or flavour. It has as much complexity and length as you could hope for at its price. Indeed, at this price I can’t think of a Sauvignon I’d rather have – and it’s certainly better value than most equivalent Sancerres.”

Sunshine in a glass - The wines of Michelle Richardson

MR_logo

With the recent bout of sunshine making us think a little better of the great British summer, we thought it about time to look to New Zealand and sunshine in a glass from Michelle Richardson.

Having cut her teeth heading up the winemaking team behind Villa Maria, Michelle decided time was right to set up her own project and with superb results. Michelle is a 3 times New Zealand winemaker of the year and is responsible for some of the countries most exciting and sought after wines...

Top marks for our Chilean Cab

Our friends at Unwined.TV have just released their video on the resurgance of the Chilean Caberntet Sauvignon. They tried 3 wines, among them our fantastic Koyle Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2008. This is the 2nd part of a 2 part show (the 1st of which can be found HERE) and at the risk of spoiling the ending, its safe to say that Marc liked the Koyle equally as much as we do...

What's more, the price has actually come down since this video was made, with the Koyle now at the fantastic price below:

A great wine with bags of power. Dark fruits and cassis with a hint of spice. PLenty of leafy eucalyptus notes that really set this Cab apart from the pack. A superb wine from a superb producer.
